The introduction to kayaking course is best suited for complete beginners or those who have limited kayaking experience.
This 2 day course is designed to equip you with the basic knowledge and skills you need to begin your paddling journey. Over the weekend, you will be working off the Canoeing Ireland level 1 curriculum. This curruculum is made up of a series of modules that cover the fundamentals of kayaking such as paddle techniques, weather forecasts and tidal information, self-rescue and interacting with the environement.
Our expert instructors will be guiding you throughout the weekend and will facilitate both group learining and one on one instruction. They will be available for the weekend for any specific questions you have and can provide advice on a wide variety of topics related to kayaking. The course will be fun, informative and easy-going, allowing you to learn and build your confidence in safe environement.
We encourage you to bring any of your own equipment as it is always best to familiarise yourself with your own gear but we can also supply you with all the equipment you need including kayaks, paddles and gear. Our guides will be able to give you advice on suitable gear and equipment to buy moving forwards should you require it.
Course includes: 2 full days (10am-4pm) of instruction and training, all necessary equipment.

- Bring your own kayak and paddle (We can supply both if you do not own your own).
- Wetsuit, Watershoes or any of your own personal gear. We have gear available for anyone who does not own their own.
- Lunch

All necessary safety equipment, kayaking equipment and instruction is provided.

To respect the privacy of our clients we ask people not to take recording equipment out on the kayaks please.
We have a no alcohol/drug policy for the safety and enjoyment of all, this includes prior consumption.
Toilet Facilities: Please note that the last toilet facilities are in Union Hall. There are portaloos at the location.

Cancellation Policy:
If you need to cancel your trip,
We operate a 3 day cancellation policy.
Please be sure to let us know at least 3 days in advance via email (or by phone during office hours). If you choose to reschedule your trip, you will receive a voucher code to enable you to do this. Alternatively you can choose a full refund.
Without 3 days notice and in the event of you not showing up, you will be liable to pay the full amount and no refund will be possible.
For group bookings we require at least 7 days notice of cancellation via email.
If we need to cancel your trip,
It will usually be because of high winds / unsafe weather forecast.
We will not cancel the trip solely because of rain, but occasionally we have to cancel because of rain and strong winds.
As forecasts are very changeable, we usually make our final decision to cancel the day before the trip.
We reserve the right to cancel trips at short notice for safety reasons. This could be due to a sudden change in weather conditions.
You will receive an email and text informing you of the cancellation to the contact details you supplied at the time of booking.
Following a trip cancellation by us, you will receive a voucher code to reschedule your booking, or you may choose a full refund.
