Our Beyond Basics course builds on the foundations of kayaking covered in our introduction to kayaking course. The course will cover the same modules but in more detail. Candidates will learn techniques to a higher standard and dive into the theory in more depth.

You will have a chance to learn about marine charts, OS maps and how to use them to plan a trip along the coast. Weather forecasts and tides will be covered in more detail and you will be shown various tools to get this information.

Learn how to secure your kayak to a roof rack and perform various equipement checks to ensure your boat is seaworthy before setting off. You will learn how to manouver your kayak much more effectively and how to control it in winds up to force 3.

Safety is always our top priority so we will dedicate much of day 2 to rescues and scenarios including self rescue, team rescues, how to call for assistance, how to keep safe on the water and towing.

This course will be run by our expert instructors who will be on hand to teach and guide you through the course material at your own pace.

We need a minimum of 4 people for our courses to go ahead.
